Results from the IUCN World Heritage Outlook 2 – an update of the IUCN World Heritage Outlook 2014 – will be presented at UNESCO’s 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee, taking place from 24 June to 4 July in Manama, Bahrain. The event will also be the occasion to launch translations into French, Spanish and Arabic.
At a side event organised on 26 June, IUCN will showcase key findings on all 241 natural World Heritage sites. For the first time, the IUCN World Heritage Outlook is able to track changes in the conservation prospects of the world’s most outstanding natural places. Changes to threats, protection and management of sites, and the state of their unique World Heritage values will be highlighted.
The World Heritage Committee meeting also marks the launch of the website in more languages (French, Spanish and Arabic), as well as the report (French and Spanish). It is hoped dissemination of Outlook findings in several languages can support decision makers across the world.
IUCN expresses its sincere thanks to the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) for its generous support in enabling the translation into Arabic of the website and soon Arab States conservation outlook assessments.
